Closedown - Nearfield

CLOSEDOWN
Nearfield
1994 Silent

Notes :
Ambient/shoegazer group which was active in the early to mid 90s and released one album called "Nearfield" (1994).

A sadly obscure and underrated release of lovely ambient pieces and shoegazer dreampop tracks that rival Slowdive's walls of gorgeous sound.

Silent Records released this with a sticker that said "file under indie ambient" and a better sub-genre can't be found to apply to this disc. Perhaps it remains a product of the early nineties with its somewhat naive sound (and "2001" samples), but it is, to me, one of the best CDs released on Silent.
